“Legacy” Buffalo Bills Bison Sculptures

Standing outside Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, “Legacy” is a monumental family of three stainless steel bison created by artist Blessing Hancock for the Buffalo Bills.

The installation includes a bull, cow, and calf, representing strength, family, and the enduring spirit shared by the Buffalo Bills organization and its fans. The largest bison reaches approximately 20 feet tall and 29 feet long, giving the sculptures a powerful presence within the stadium landscape.

ART Research Enterprises worked closely with Blessing Hancock and the project team to bring the artwork from digital designs to finished monumental sculptures. Our scope included engineering coordination, digital development, stainless steel fabrication, structural assemblies, surface finishing, lighting integration, transportation, and onsite installation.

Each bison was constructed from individually formed stainless steel sections assembled around an engineered internal structure. The finished surfaces combine directional satin finishing with subtle variations that catch and reflect the changing light. Integrated lighting elements add another dimension to the sculptures and allow the installation to remain visually active after dark.

Fabricated at our Lancaster, Pennsylvania studio, “Legacy” brought together nearly every part of our operation, from project management and engineering through metal fabrication, finishing, crating, and installation. The completed bison family serves as a lasting tribute to resilience, community, and the proud identity of Buffalo.
